ROLE OVERVIEW

DirectPath Recruitment has been exclusively retained by a premier Tier 1 Contractor to secure an ambitious Site Engineer for a flagship Hyperscale Data Centre Development in Groningen, Netherlands. 

Data centre projects offer some of the most advanced technical environments and robust pipelines in modern construction. While your gross base salary is highly competitive, the structured project uplifts, tax-free international allowances, and employer-provided accommodation are designed to drastically lower your out-of-pocket living expenses.

FINANCIAL BREAKDOWN & PERSONAL SAVINGS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- On-Site Execution: Set out complex data centre works accurately in line with structural drawings, electrical/mechanical interfaces, and site surveys using total stations, EDMs, and lasers.

- Quality Control & Compliance: Maintain robust site diaries, technical records, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and track supply chain test data to meet stringent data centre quality standards. Carry out pre-start condition surveys, snagging, and de-snagging before handover.

- Engineering Coordination: Raise and resolve technical RFIs with client representatives, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors. Review subcontractor drawings and ensure purchase orders meet technical criteria.

- Material & Safety Management: Manage and record delivered materials (concrete, reinforcement, facades, etc.) and support safe working practices by reviewing subcontractor safety plans.

- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior or trainee engineers through knowledge sharing while providing measurement/valuation inputs to the project QS.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Criteria:

- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Construction Management.

- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience within a civil, building, or project-based sector. 

- Solid experience across core trades (piling, geotechnical, substructures, superstructures, or facades).

- Highly proficient in setting out using Total Stations, EDMs, lasers, and dumpy levels.

- EU Passport Holders Only (Required due to immediate international project deployment).

Desirable Criteria:

- Previous experience on Data Centre, Pharma, or High-Tech Industrial construction projects.

- SMSTS / MSIC certification or First Aid training.

- Lifting Supervisor certification or Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) training.

- Chartered status or actively working towards professional membership with Engineers Ireland / ICE.

- Competence in BIM, 3D scanning, point cloud data, or project planning software.

- Current full driving licence.
